Robust PACKET, also known as HFHigh Frequency (3-30 MHz)-APRSAutomatic Packet Reporting System, an amateur radio-based system for real time tactical digital communications of information of immediate value in the local area, RPR, Winlink RMS, APRSlink, RPR-HFHigh Frequency (3-30 MHz)-APRSAutomatic Packet Reporting System, an amateur radio-based system for real time tactical digital communications of information of immediate value in the local area, and SCS Robust Packet, is an OFDMOrthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing version of the amateur mode PACKET optimized for shortwave use. This mode was developed by Spezielle Communications Systeme GmbH & Co. KG (SCS), who developed the PACTOR protocol.

Robust PACKET uses 500 HzHertz (Hz), unit of frequency, defined as one cycle per second (1 Hz). of bandwidth with 60 HzHertz (Hz), unit of frequency, defined as one cycle per second (1 Hz). spacing between carriers, and uses OFDMOrthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing with 8 DBPSK or DQPSKDifferential Quadrature Phase-Shift Keying carriers. On 200 bpsBits per second (bps) mode, it uses BPSKBinary Phase-Shift Keying (1 bit per symbol). For 600 bpsBits per second (bps) mode, DQPSKDifferential Quadrature Phase-Shift Keying is used. For both modes, each subcarrier runs at a constant rate of 50 BdBaud (unit symbol Bd) is the unit for symbol rate or modulation rate in symbols per second..

Like PACKET, Robust PACKET uses the AX-25 frame protocol for transmitting data. Compared to PACKET, Robust PACKET has better resistance against multipath propagation and fading. In addition, Robust PACKET takes less total bandwidth, with sidebands only extending out to 500 HzHertz (Hz), unit of frequency, defined as one cycle per second (1 Hz)., where with PACKET, the sidebands produced from the 300 BdBaud (unit symbol Bd) is the unit for symbol rate or modulation rate in symbols per second. FSKFrequency-Shift Keying extend as far as 730 HzHertz (Hz), unit of frequency, defined as one cycle per second (1 Hz)..

This mode is available only on SCS's 'Tracker / DSP TNC'
