IsatM2M Paging Service operated by Inmarsat on existing Inmarsat-D/D+ infrastructure. Used for transport vehicle security, industrial equipment monitoring (SCADA) and marine tracking. Similar waveform to Inmarsat-D/D+ but employs faster bit rate and wider bandwidth.


Characteristics[edit]

32-MFSKMultiple Frequency Shift-Keying, 16 symbols/sec, 32 HzHertz (Hz), unit of frequency, defined as one cycle per second (1 Hz). shift. ~80 bpsBits per second (bps) max data rate. Has idling mode and preamble. Compared to the Inmarsat-D/D+ waveform, IsatM2M is 4x faster, with maximum datarate of 80 bpsBits per second (bps) (compared with Inmarsat-D/D+'s maximum datarate of 20 bpsBits per second (bps)).

Support Notice[edit]

Inmarsat advises that it will continue to support its ISATM2M service at least until December 2018. This provides long-term stability and guarantees that critical IsatM2M services, currently provided via the Inmarsat-3 constellation, can become available to all ISAT M2M customers until at least 2018 by allowing for IsatM2M services to be provided on the I4 satellites should the need arise.
